snow day
Here on the west coast, snow is something we joke about - the city literally shuts down if we get over a few inches. Being that it doesn't happen all that often its really a beautiful thing. After waking up to a wee bit of snow (really a tonne for us!) we thought it was best to capture the goodness before it was washed away with rain.
want it: travel
Ever get the travel bug? I have the itch. It’s been a long while since my feet have left Canadian soil (aside from a few quick shopping trips to the states.) I have been dreaming on going anywhere as long as I could take my camera and notebook. Sometimes I seriously consider taking Groupon up on their getaways. My top 5 choices for the perfect travel plans:
no.1 alaska//denali
no. 3 galapagos islands
no. 4 newfoundland//east coast

Fresh start
Being that it's now officially 2012, reflecting on 2011 seems like the right thing to do. 2011 was fast and full. We sat down just after new years around this time and set some goals. There were things like find a new job, go out for photo field trips and eat better. What unfolded was far more then we imagined. We moved to Terra Nova to what I refer to as our summer home. We spent many days off on photo field trips. I got a new job working for a car insurance company. We bought a new computer. We got accepted into a housing co-op. We bought new furniture for our new place. Looking back all these events seem so small but so life altering at the same time. If I could give 2011 one word it would be alive. 2011 breathed new life into our life. It was amazing. Not only am I ready, I'm looking forward to the goodness of 2012.
Here's a few songs that are helping me celebrate the new year.
every teardrop is a waterfall - coldplay
daylight - matt & kim
new west - butcher the bar
enjoy.

Want it: Cabin
I am so ready for the day when I can pack up my car and head to the cabin for the weekend. At the drop of the dime. City life drains me, especially shopping on a Saturday.

Camera Adventure
A couple of nights ago we headed out on a photo field trip, something we've been doing a lot more of lately since we acquired a new camera. There's this area in Richmond that I love to drive through, Ali usually drives through it whenever we can. It's called Finn Slough and its a old fishing village from way back in the day. It's rural and super cute. For weeks I've been saying we should go for a trip there and we finally did.
It was a bit of a let down, to be honest. I was expecting a trail or a community on the other side of the very rickty bridge. But just a short trail to to private homes. So I spent some time capturing a few shots of Ali in one of my favourite parts of this city!
It's been really great having him fall in love with photography. It's always been something I've loved and I love that I get to share it with him and also support him in it. As a child I was always encouraged to do creative things and be creative (we even had a craft cupboard at home) so it feels wonderful to be able to give that to someone else. Even though the original plan turned out to be a little on the lame side it was fun all the same and we even managed to avoid mosquitos.

This bridge was the scariest thing ever!
